Prince William to Attend King Harald V's Funeral in Oslo

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will attend the state funeral of King Harald V of Norway on September 9, representing his father, King Charles. This attendance aligns with the tradition that a reigning British monarch does not typically attend another head of state's funeral.

Princess Anne will also be present in a personal capacity due to her role as godmother to King Haakon VIII. King Harald V, who passed away at the age of 89 after a 35-year reign, was recognized as a unifying figure and modernizer of the Norwegian monarchy.

His funeral will include a service at Oslo Cathedral followed by a private burial at the royal mausoleum in Akershus Fortress. King Haakon VIII, who begins his reign during a challenging time for the royal family, expressed gratitude towards his late father in a televised address.

Other attendees will include Queen Sonja and various European royals.
