PDP Faction Petitions Police Over Alleged False Claims

The factional People's Democratic Party (PDP) has formally requested an investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, into Samuel Anyanwu and Abdulrahman Mohammed. This petition, dated November 3, 2025, alleges that the two individuals provided false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the suspension of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, who was appointed as acting national chairman.

The petition claims that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP did not authorize Anyanwu's suspension, as evidenced by records from the 608th emergency meeting held on November 1, 2025, where Anyanwu was absent, and Mohammed was present. The petition also references a Federal High Court judgment from October 10, 2024, which recognized Damagum's appointment and restrained INEC from acting on Anyanwu's claims.
