Prof Calls for Repeal of Land Use Act in Nigeria, Advocates Direct Benefits for Communities

Professor Paul Ojo, a former chief of staff to the late Oyo State Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi, urged for the repeal of the Land Use Act during his lecture at the University of Ilorin. He emphasized the need for communities to directly benefit from mineral resources, suggesting royalties be paid to the federal government while states manage resources within their territories.

Ojo highlighted the importance of restructuring the federal system to enhance national development and advocated for addressing citizenship issues in Nigeria. He called for a non-centralized federal system to empower states financially and ensure equitable infrastructure distribution.
