Queen’s College Principal Launches Successful Freelance Day

Dr. Oyindamola Obabori, the Principal of Queen’s College, Lagos, has implemented 'Freelance Day' to address student restiveness and promote skill development.

This initiative, observed every Wednesday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, allows students to engage in various activities during their break time. Initially termed 'Skills Acquisition Day', it encourages students to participate in skills such as music, sports, handset repairs, tie and dye, hat making, perfume creation, bead making, and more.

The college employs staff and two coaches for volleyball and basketball to facilitate these activities. Additionally, opportunities in photography, video editing, robotics, coding, and baking are provided.

Obabori noted that students have embraced the initiative, contributing ideas for new skills and feeling their voices are heard. The program has significantly reduced restiveness and bullying among students, promoting a more engaged and creative school environment.
