Agmon's exit comes amid accusations of making derogatory remarks about Jews of Moroccan origin, which sparked significant public outrage. Netanyahu had previously expressed a desire for Agmon to remain in his position for the sake of stability, but the criticism led to swift action from the Prime Minister's office.

Agmon's successor, Ido Norden, is set to take office shortly after Agmon's departure. Norden has been noted for past actions, including creating a fake account on social media to promote a book discussing the "deep state" and public blame for Israel's failures.

His appointment will require approval from Shin Bet to become official.
