RAI Celebrates 10 Years of Artistic Innovation in Lagos

The Revolving Art Incubator (RAI), founded by Jumoke Sanwo in 2016 at Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, Lagos, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a six-month program called Afterlives/AfterSpaces, running from June to December. The program includes various events such as In Memoriam in July, urban interventions in August, a Maker Lab exhibition in September, a film program and Storytelling Lab in October, a retrospective exhibition in November, and the final activation and outSPOKEN in December.

Sanwo, a self-taught lens-based artist and cultural interlocutor, aimed to create a space for artists to experiment and collaborate across disciplines. RAI has hosted over 50 exhibitions and various artistic initiatives.

Artists like Victor Ehikhamenor and Dr. Damola Adebowale have praised RAI for its unique environment and contributions to the Lagos art scene, emphasizing its role in nurturing creativity and conversation.
