Rangers Clinch NPFL Pre-Season Tournament Title

Rangers emerged as champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Pre-Season invitational tournament after a 1-0 victory over Plateau United in the final held at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday. Justice Akugre was the standout player for Rangers, scoring the decisive goal in the 28th minute with a powerful header from a corner kick.

Despite Plateau United's efforts to equalize in the second half, Rangers maintained their defensive strength to secure the win and the trophy. In the third-place playoff, Mighty Jets defeated Katsina United 1-0, with Tochukwu Ibedu scoring the winning goal in the 39th minute.

This invitational tournament was part of the clubs' preparations for the 2026/27 NPFL season, which is set to commence on Friday, August 27, with Rangers facing Katsina United in the opening match.
