Dr. Abba Aliyu Wins Award for Renewable Energy Excellence

Dr. Abba Aliyu, the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), was honored with an excellence award for his transparency and efficiency in managing renewable energy projects. The award was presented on Friday in Lagos by the editorial board of Energy Time, which recognized Aliyu's significant contributions to transforming Nigeria's energy landscape.

Under his leadership, the REA achieved an 85% budget execution rate while managing multi-million dollar international projects. The board highlighted Aliyu's role in negotiating the implementation of the $750 million World Bank-funded DARE project, the largest renewable energy initiative of its kind globally.

This project aims to provide decentralized energy solutions across 21 states, empowering local firms to become utility-scale providers. The award reflects the strides made by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with strategic guidance from Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, in extending sustainable power to 17.5 million homes nationwide.
