REA Launches 42 Renewable Energy Projects in Kebbi, Adamawa

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has initiated the groundbreaking of 42 renewable energy projects in Kebbi and Adamawa states, which is part of the federal government's efforts to enhance electricity access and stimulate economic growth in underserved communities. The projects consist of 39 mini-grid projects in Adamawa State and a 5-megawatt solar power project in Kebbi State, implemented under the federal government's rural electrification program.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Power Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe described the initiative as a significant milestone in the federal government's commitment to achieving universal electricity access as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renew Hope agenda. The 39 projects are expected to provide nearly 27 megawatts of clean, reliable, and sustainable electricity to communities across Adamawa State, making it one of the largest decentralized renewable energy programs implemented in a single state.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed his satisfaction with the event, calling it a strategic turning point for the state.
