REA Tops ICPC 2025 Ethics Ranking in Power Sector

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has emerged as the top institution in Nigeria's power sector according to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) 2025 ethics compliance ranking. The agency's scorecard, obtained on Tuesday, shows a dramatic rise from 157th position in 2024 to the forefront of governance and accountability reforms, achieving an overall performance rate of 98 percent, a 31.4 percent improvement from 2020.

Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the Managing Director/CEO of REA, emphasized the importance of ethical conduct and compliance within the agency, which plays a crucial role in implementing Nigeria's renewable energy and rural electrification initiatives. The agency aims to break into the top 10 ministries and departments in the next assessment cycle, reflecting its commitment to continuous improvement and integrity in governance.

The ICPC evaluated 357 MDAs across Nigeria, assessing management culture, financial systems, and administrative processes, with REA excelling across all metrics.
