Defence Minister Critiques El-Rufai's Governance in Kaduna

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Gen. Musa, the current Defence Minister, accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of exacerbating divisions and contributing to insecurity in the state from 2015 to 2023. Musa described the situation in Kaduna under El-Rufai as “toxic,” highlighting the discontent among residents of Southern Kaduna due to killings during El-Rufai's administration.

He stated, “El-Rufai did a lot of terrible things in Kaduna State,” and claimed that the people of Southern Kaduna could never be happy with him due to his alleged role in planning the killings of their people. Musa also accused El-Rufai of demolishing houses belonging to individuals with whom he had personal disagreements.

The minister's comments received mixed reactions, with individuals like Nura Bako Zango questioning the historical context of violence in Kaduna and challenging Musa to provide evidence for his allegations. Abdulmatin Muhammed Jibril also urged Musa to substantiate his claims with proof of his own efforts to protect the people during El-Rufai's governance.
