REA Achievements in Two Years Surpass Previous Decade

During the launch of the Renewable Asset Management Company (RAMCO) in Abuja, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, praised Abba Aliyu, the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), for his exceptional leadership. Alausa stated that the achievements of REA over the past two years have exceeded those of the entire previous decade.

He highlighted the practical benefits in the education sector, specifically mentioning that the University of Abuja now has a 3.2MW installation providing 24-hour electricity for uninterrupted research. Alausa stressed that reliable power is essential for effective teaching and research innovation.

He also pointed out that maintaining renewable energy requires technical competence and accountability. The creation of RAMCO is intended to transition from merely deploying renewable energy assets to sustainably managing them, with expectations for increased professionalism and accountability in managing these installations.
