Governor AbdulRazaq Aids Aviation College in Ilorin

Captain Yakubu Okatahi, the Rector of the Aviation College in Ilorin, acknowledged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his significant intervention that saved the college from operational struggles. During a press briefing, Okatahi revealed that the governor provided funds for the overhaul of aircraft engines and ensured regular subvention payments for staff salaries.

The college's primary mandate is to train pilots, and it has successfully graduated 50 pilots under the current management, which has received a commendable 96 percent score during an audit by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). Okatahi emphasized the importance of maintaining affordable tuition fees to enable more Nigerians to access aviation training.

He also noted that the state government sponsored several students for advanced training programs, including sending instructors to South Africa for further training. However, he appealed for additional funding to acquire at least one more aircraft to enhance training capacity and ensure timely graduation of students, including personnel from the Nigerian Air Force, Navy, and Army.
