LASU's Ladipo-Scott Calls for Action Against Negligence

During a roundtable organized by United Action for Change (UAC) in Lagos, Ms Temitope Ladipo-Scott, Deputy Registrar of Lagos State University (LASU), and Builder Mubarak Gbaja-Biamila addressed the issue of administrative and professional negligence in Nigeria. They called on regulatory bodies and gatekeepers to adhere to existing rules and regulations, highlighting that negligence has resulted in loss of lives and has discouraged citizens from acting responsibly.

Ladipo-Scott criticized the increasing negligence despite existing laws and demanded penalties for offenders. She urged citizens to continue doing the right thing regardless of societal acknowledgment.

Gbaja-Biamila pointed out that silence from citizens contributes to professional negligence, particularly in the construction sector, and encouraged Community Development Associations (CDAs) to intervene in unsafe construction practices. He recommended mandatory oversight by regulatory professionals at construction sites and emphasized the importance of community vigilance.

Legal negligence was also briefly mentioned by lawyer Asiwaju Dave Ajetunmobi.
