Nigeria Air Receives Two Boeing Aircraft, Boosting Growth

Nigeria Air welcomed two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft at a ceremony held at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The aircraft were named after the esteemed novelist Chinua Achebe, symbolizing the airline's dedication to preserving and promoting Nigerian heritage.

Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the Executive Chairman of Nigeria Air, stated that this naming reflects the airline's commitment to cultural representation. The two aircraft are part of an order for six, with the remaining four to be delivered later.

Okonkwo emphasized the importance of this delivery in strengthening the airline's operations and increasing domestic and regional connectivity. He also highlighted the challenges faced by Nigeria's aviation industry, including high operational costs and difficulties in attracting international financing.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has been instrumental in restoring confidence among global aviation stakeholders. Okonkwo urged the federal government to ensure that revenue generated within the aviation sector is retained for its development.
