NSCIA Raises Concerns Over El-Rufai's Detention Bias

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has raised alarms regarding the continued detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, suggesting that religious bias may be influencing the case against him. In a statement signed by Secretary-General Prof Is-haq Oloyede, the NSCIA indicated that it had initially viewed El-Rufai's prosecution as a standard judicial process but has since become concerned about external influences.

This statement follows accusations from Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (retd.), who alleged that El-Rufai planned killings in Southern Kaduna during his tenure from 2015 to 2023. El-Rufai's family, through his eldest son Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, rejected these allegations and demanded evidence or a retraction from Musa.

The NSCIA urged the Federal Government and the Judiciary to ensure that public institutions are not used for sectarian agendas against El-Rufai and called on Nigerians to refrain from inflammatory comments that could impact the trial or worsen national security.
