Yayi Planned to Appoint Late Actor Ogogo as Adviser

Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, expressed that the late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, would have been appointed as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture had he won the 2027 election. During a condolence visit to Ogogo's family in Ilaro, Ogun State, Yayi praised Ogogo's contributions to acting and Yoruba heritage, referring to him as an elder brother.

He had planned to include Ogogo in his cabinet due to his experience in cultural matters. Yayi lamented Ogogo's death on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after battling stage-four cancer, calling it a monumental loss to the creative industry.

He recalled efforts made to support Ogogo during his illness and commiserated with his family and the people of Ilaro. Ogogo was buried in Ilaro following Islamic funeral rites, and his passing has drawn tributes from various sectors.
