APC Youth Leader Calls for Review After Osun Election Loss

Dr. Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged the party to conduct a sincere review of its performance after the 2026 Osun State governorship election, where APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji lost to incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party. Adeleke received 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji garnered 444,815 votes.

Israel stressed that reliance on governors and former political office holders alone cannot ensure electoral success and called for honest reflection rather than excuses. He congratulated Adeleke and acknowledged the efforts of APC members and volunteers.

Israel commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not using presidential powers to influence the election outcome, stating that this approach respected the electorate's decision. He also noted that Adeleke's connection with voters through his public persona, including dancing, played a significant role in his victory, emphasizing the importance of emotional engagement in politics.
