APC Youth Leader Calls for Overhaul After Osun Defeat

Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged the party to undertake a significant strategic overhaul after its defeat in the Osun State governorship election. In a post-election assessment titled “Osun has spoken: The bitter truth APC must hear before 2027,” Israel warned that the lessons from this election could impact the 2027 general election.

He stated that the defeat should not be dismissed with excuses or blame but should prompt a thorough review of the party’s campaign structure, grassroots mobilization, and engagement with young people and women. Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord was re-elected with 511,067 votes, defeating APC's Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Israel credited President Bola Tinubu for allowing a free electoral process and praised Adeleke for his strong grassroots connection and the role of music star David Adeleke (Davido) in mobilizing young voters. He emphasized the importance of understanding the electorate and building genuine connections in political campaigns.
