Reps' Committee Meets Prince Adeyemi in Police Custody

On Friday, the House of Representatives’ Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Honourable Yusuf Gagdi, met with Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi Mathew, the Director-General, in police custody. The meeting was brief as Adeyemi insisted on the presence of his counsel before answering any substantive questions regarding allegations of his leadership of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

Adeyemi is currently detained following a bench warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja after he failed to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge including conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. The prosecution, led by Wisdom Madaki, had requested the arrest order due to Adeyemi's absence.

His lawyer, Genesis Francis, expressed concerns for Adeyemi's safety, stating he had written to President Bola Tinubu about his fears. The committee may visit Adeyemi again to facilitate a formal interface once his lawyer is present.
