Reps Approve N2.29tn FCT, N1.75tn NDDC Budgets for 2026

On Thursday, the Nigerian House of Representatives passed the 2026 statutory budgets for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), amounting to N2.29 trillion and N1.75 trillion, respectively. The FCT budget, presented by Muktar Betara, includes N165.78 billion for personnel costs, N378.23 billion for overhead costs, and N1.74 trillion for capital projects, with a focus on enhancing infrastructure and security in Abuja.

Key allocations include N151.44 billion for security services and N162 billion for the education sector. The NDDC budget, presented by Erhiatak Ibori Suenu, allocates N47.57 billion for personnel costs and N1.63 trillion for development projects in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

This budget aims to address underdevelopment, environmental degradation, and youth unemployment. The approval comes amid scrutiny of the NDDC's financial management and project implementation processes.
