RIVCHPP Encourages Rivers Residents to Join Health Insurance

Dr. Vetti Agala, the Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), urged residents of Rivers State to embrace health insurance and prioritize preventive healthcare during a live radio program in Port Harcourt.

Agala emphasized the need for proactive steps to safeguard health and highlighted the agency's commitment to providing access to affordable healthcare services for all residents, regardless of their socio-economic status. She reaffirmed that the health insurance scheme is designed to protect residents from financial burdens associated with medical expenses and to guarantee access to quality healthcare services.

Agala called on community leaders and stakeholders to play a critical role in expanding health insurance coverage and supporting enrollment campaigns. She disclosed that RIVCHPP aims to enroll at least one million residents by the end of 2026 and explained that the scheme offers flexible enrollment packages for individuals, families, and vulnerable groups.

Agala also mentioned ongoing reforms to improve service delivery and enhance operational efficiency through technology.
