Action Alliance Candidate Alleges Irregularities in Rivers Poll

Dr. Douglas Fabek, the Action Alliance candidate for the Rivers South East Senatorial District by-election, has filed a petition with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, alleging extensive irregularities during the election held on June 22.

Fabek rejected the election outcome, which declared Olaka Nwogu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner, and called for an independent investigation into the electoral process. He accused electoral officials of misconduct, including voter suppression, intimidation, and manipulation of electoral materials, particularly in the Bomu and Gokana Local Government Areas.

Fabek claimed that INEC officials moved electoral materials to hotels, offered cash inducements to PDP agents, and failed to properly count votes. He also alleged that the biometric voter accreditation system malfunctioned, disenfranchising registered voters.

Fabek demanded a thorough investigation into these allegations and requested the preservation of electoral materials for examination.
