AA Candidate Calls Rivers By-Election a Charade

Dr. Douglas Fabek, the Action Alliance (AA) candidate for the Rivers South-East senatorial seat, described the recent by-election as a charade, citing numerous irregularities that undermined the credibility of the polls.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Fabek accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of failing to ensure a fair election, alleging that results were manipulated and that electoral officials were relocated to private hotels. He claimed that INEC did not upload results to the mandated electoral portal and that there was a lack of transparency in the process.

Fabek announced plans to legally challenge the election outcome, which declared Olaka Nwogu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner. He expressed concern over the judiciary's reliability, stating that many Nigerians have lost faith in the system.

Fabek's legal team is preparing to present evidence to contest the results within 21 days. The by-election was held following the death of Senator Bari Mpigi.
