Rivers CP Adepoju Enforces Action Against Obscured Plates

On Monday, Rivers State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju spearheaded an enforcement operation targeting vehicles with covered or unregistered number plates across Port Harcourt and its surroundings. Accompanied by officers from the state traffic department, the operation aimed to enhance public safety and prevent criminal activities that often utilize such vehicles.

Adepoju stated that vehicles with obscured number plates are frequently involved in criminal activities, including transporting arms and ammunition and facilitating kidnappings. He warned that owners of such vehicles would face sanctions and that the police would impound non-compliant vehicles.

The operation was conducted under the directive of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu, who emphasized the importance of vehicle registration for crime detection and vehicle recovery. Adepoju also clarified that the restriction on operating tricycles and motorcycles from 10 PM to 6 AM does not apply to minibuses, known as 'keke buses,' which can operate beyond 10 PM.

He urged the public to take precautions to avoid becoming victims of crime.
