RMAFC Chairman Announces Reforms for Revenue Transparency

On Thursday, 6 August 2026, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), unveiled significant reforms to bolster Nigeria's fiscal governance. He emphasized the Commission's commitment to institutional reforms, digital transformation, enhanced revenue monitoring, and transparent allocation of federation revenues.

Dr. Shehu described RMAFC as a strategic constitutional body responsible for safeguarding the nation's revenue architecture, ensuring proper accounting and equitable distribution of funds due to the Federation Account. He referenced the Commission's constitutional mandate from the 1999 Constitution, noting its role extends beyond revenue sharing to include monitoring revenues, advising on revenue enhancement strategies, and determining remuneration for political office holders.

The Chairman highlighted the Commission's oversight of key revenue-generating agencies and its monthly reconciliation exercises through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), aimed at ensuring accountability in revenue generation and disbursement.
