Rotary International Honors Olusegun Osunkeye for Polio Work

Rotary International presented its highest individual award for humanitarian service to Olusegun Osunkeye, the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, in recognition of his extensive efforts in polio eradication. The award was conferred during the Rotary District 9111 conference held on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Osunkeye has a notable record as the highest single individual donor to the district's polio eradication initiatives in Nigeria, contributing to a global effort that has reduced polio cases by 99.9% and led to Africa being certified free of wild poliovirus in 2020. His support has been crucial in immunization drives and health infrastructure projects, protecting millions of Nigerian children from the debilitating disease.

The award was formally presented by Princ Henri Akinyel, who praised Osunkeye's long-standing commitment to humanitarian service. Osunkeye emphasized that the recognition belongs to all who support the journey of humanitarian service, which remains essential in addressing global challenges.
