NGF President Disputes Nigeria's Suspension Claims

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), asserted that Nigeria has not been suspended from continental golf, contrary to reports circulating in online media. He described these reports as malicious and unverified, capable of causing unnecessary panic among stakeholders.

Runsewe emphasized that the alleged suspension due to nonpayment of the annual affiliation fee was unfounded, stating that the fee of $1,500 was paid electronically the previous week. He indicated that the responsibility for paying international affiliation fees lies with the National Sports Commission (NSC), not individual federations.

Runsewe also communicated with Amb. Johnson Omolo, President of the African Golf Confederation, who denied authorizing any statements regarding Nigeria's suspension.

He clarified that the African Golf Confederation does not oversee the All Africa Challenge Trophy, which is independently organized. Preparations for the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy remain on track, with approximately 30 African countries expected to participate.
