German Woman Arrested in Russia Over Bomb Plot Allegations

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia arrested a German woman, born in 1969, on allegations of plotting a bomb attack. She was detained in Pyatigorsk, where authorities found an improvised explosive device in her backpack.

The device contained explosives equivalent to 1.5 kilograms (three pounds) of TNT and was reportedly intended to be detonated remotely. The FSB stated that the woman was allegedly working with a radical ideologist from a Central Asian country, born in 1997, to carry out a terrorist attack against law enforcement facilities in the Stavropol region.

Both individuals face life imprisonment on terrorism charges. The FSB's statement indicated that the plot was linked to a broader narrative of alleged Ukrainian sabotage efforts within Russia, although no evidence was provided.

The arrest follows a series of similar detentions of individuals accused of terrorism in Russia, often involving foreign nationals.
