Sahara Group Launches 40,000 CBM LPG Carrier in Ghana

Sahara Group inaugurated the MT Asharami Ghana, a 40,000 cubic meter liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier, in Ulsan, South Korea. This addition to their fleet aims to strengthen Ghana's clean energy supply chain and improve the LPG distribution network.

President John Dramani Mahama highlighted the vessel as a significant milestone for enhancing supply security and operational efficiency in Ghana, which relies partly on LPG imports. The MT Asharami Ghana is part of a broader strategy that includes the construction of additional storage facilities, with a total capacity of 25,000 metric tons to support Ghana's economy.

The Sahara Group's LPG carrier fleet now comprises six vessels with a combined capacity of 202,000 cubic meters. The initiative aligns with Ghana's goal to increase LPG adoption to 50% of households by 2030, up from 30% currently.

This inauguration coincides with Sahara Group's 30th anniversary, reflecting its commitment to responsible energy distribution across Africa.
