Ex-Army Chiefs Welcome Salary Increase for Troops

Former senior military officials Tukur Gusau and Sani Kukasheka Usman have expressed their approval of the recent salary increase for military personnel, describing it as a commendable step towards prioritizing the welfare of troops. Gusau, a retired Brigadier General and former Director of Defence Information, noted that the salary increment, initiated during the tenure of Chief of Defence Staff, is a positive omen in addressing security challenges and will boost troop morale.

Usman emphasized that while the salary increase is beneficial, it is insufficient without adequate military equipment and resources to confront evolving threats. He called on the government to provide greater attention to the welfare of military personnel and their families, particularly those who have made sacrifices in the line of duty.

Both officials highlighted the importance of comprehensive support systems for soldiers and their families, advocating for sustained investment in military welfare to enhance operational efficiency and security outcomes across Nigeria.
