Salis Engages Atiku, Plans Talks with Tinubu on Development

Chief Owolabi Salis, West Africa’s first astronaut and a New York-based lawyer and chartered accountant, recently visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as part of a strategic dialogue aimed at national development in Nigeria. Salis expressed that this initiative is crucial for steering Nigeria towards a more effective democratic path.

He plans to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Heads of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen.

Ibrahim Babangida, and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Salis commended the Tinubu administration for its reforms but noted that Nigeria continues to drift after over two decades of democracy, attributing this to desperate politicians and a weak democratic culture. He highlighted the widening gap between the rich and the poor, stating that many Nigerians suffer from poverty and lack access to essential medical care.

Salis believes a better electoral process is necessary for proper elections and expressed confidence in President Tinubu's commitment to addressing these issues.
