Sobi Community Defends Borehole Project by Senator Mustapha

Residents and leaders of Zul-Qarnain Street in Sobi, Ilorin, have refuted claims that a motorised borehole provided by Senator Saliu Mustapha was redirected for private use at an aide's residence. They asserted that the borehole was established to meet the community's water needs and remains accessible via a public fetching point outside the private premises where the borehole is located.

The community, represented by Chairman Alhaji Bashir Mayaki, explained that the borehole's location was chosen after a hydrogeological survey identified areas with sufficient underground water. Although the borehole is situated on private property, the community emphasized that it is a public facility, with the fetching point managed by them.

They expressed surprise at the claims of diversion, stating that only the borehole infrastructure was shown without the public fetching point. The residents invited anyone interested to visit and verify the facility's accessibility, stressing that the project was intended to alleviate their water challenges and should not be politicized.
