AGF Warns Against Misconduct by Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN Title Not a License

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) stressed that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title is a privilege that should not be abused, cautioning against misconduct. The AGF highlighted that the title can be withdrawn if the holder fails to meet the expected standards.

The remarks were made during a dinner organized by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the prestigious SAN rank. The AGF reiterated that the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee (LPPC) has the authority to withdraw the SAN title if necessary.

Additionally, during the event, 134 new SANs were formally inducted, with five law students receiving scholarships. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, was honored as a special guest.

The AGF praised her and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of BOSAN and LPPC in strengthening the SAN rank within the legal profession.
