Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates 44 Sports Association Chairmen

On Tuesday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated 44 chairmen of sports associations at Lagos House in Ikeja. He tasked them with strengthening grassroots development, identifying emerging talents, and creating sustainable pathways for athletes to achieve national and international success.

Sanwo-Olu described these appointments as a crucial step in repositioning sports administration in Lagos. He urged the new chairmen to set measurable objectives, implement succession programs, and establish systems for nurturing talent into elite athletes.

The governor emphasized that Lagos should not only focus on talent discovery but also on providing necessary structures and competitive platforms. He highlighted sports as a means to promote discipline, education, employment, and economic growth, and called for stronger collaboration between the government and private sector to enhance sports development.

Sanwo-Olu instructed the chairmen to prioritize transparency and accountability, while also creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. The performance of the chairmen will be assessed based on the athletes they develop and the records they break.
