Ollie Watkins Calls Saudi Pro League 'Premier League Quality'

Ollie Watkins made a significant impact in his debut for Al-Hilal, scoring a goal in their 3-0 victory over Al-Ahli. The England international, who joined Al-Hilal from Aston Villa for £51 million last week, came on as a substitute at half-time and scored with a header from Sultan Al-Mandash’s cross.

Following the match, Watkins expressed that the quality of play in the Saudi Pro League was comparable to that of the Premier League, citing the physicality and high skill level of the game. He was motivated to join Al-Hilal after witnessing their performance in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Watkins, who previously spent six seasons at Aston Villa scoring 108 goals in 280 appearances, acknowledged he is still regaining match fitness after only a few days of training with his new teammates. Al-Hilal's victory marked their fourth consecutive win in the Saudi Pro League, keeping them at the top of the table under coach Simone Inzaghi.
