Umahi Urges Southeast to Support Tinubu for 2027

On Friday, Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, emphasized the need for the Southeast to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, asserting that the region alone cannot elect Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate.

Speaking during an inspection of the Ebonyi section of the Cross River–Abuja Super Highway, Umahi noted that the Southeast is currently benefiting from significant federal infrastructure investments, which he claims surpass those of previous administrations. He stated that the ongoing road projects are enhancing connectivity, creating jobs, and stimulating economic activities.

Umahi remarked that Peter Obi is contesting for the presidency of Nigeria, not just the Southeast, and urged political leaders to avoid divisive politics. He defended the Federal Government’s borrowing policy, stating that loans are being used for critical infrastructure.

Umahi also provided updates on the Cross River–Abuja Legacy Highway, indicating that Section One is nearing completion and Section Two has been mobilized. He expressed confidence that the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway would be completed by December.
