Mike Arnold Declares Self-Determination for Biafra, Others

During the Sokoto Declaration, Mike Arnold, the founder and chairman of Africa Arise International, asserted that self-determination is not a crime for the Biafran, Yoruba, and northern minority peoples in Nigeria. This declaration coincided with the remembrance of Biafran heroes on May 30, 2026.

Arnold, a U.S. citizen sympathetic to the Biafran struggle, described the declaration as a clarion call for all oppressed tribes in Nigeria to rise and seize their freedom. He specifically referenced the imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that speaking the truth should not be equated with terrorism.

Arnold's 15-point declaration emphasized the inherent rights of every individual to life, liberty, and the ability to choose their future. He called for a peaceful and coordinated resistance against oppression, advocating for a new constitution and international supervision of a referendum to ensure true self-determination for the people of Nigeria.
