He draws parallels to historical separations, such as India and Pakistan in 1947 and Sudan and South Sudan in 2011.

Arnold emphasizes the economic growth of the Eastern region during the pre-civil war period and discusses the humanitarian crisis during the Biafran War, where millions suffered due to a blockade.
