Senator Ngwu Supports TCN on 9th Mile Substation Issues

Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, pledged his support for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in addressing right-of-way bottlenecks that have delayed the commissioning of the 9th Mile 132/33kV transmission substation in Enugu State. During his visit on July 11, he received assistance from Engr.

Madu, the General Manager of TCN's Enugu sub-region, alongside other TCN officials. A statement issued by TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, indicated that the substation, which was completed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in 2022, remains unutilized due to the incomplete 22-kilometer New Haven to 9th Mile 132kV double circuit transmission line.

Engr. Madu explained that unresolved right-of-way challenges are hindering the completion of this transmission line, making it impossible to energize the substation.

Once completed, the transmission line will enhance bulk electricity supply to the 9th Mile industrial cluster and improve power reliability in the area. Ngwu described the project as critical for the economic development of the district and assured TCN of his commitment to work with relevant stakeholders to resolve the right-of-way issues and strengthen security around the facility.
