SSANIP Demands Implementation of NBTE Duty Delineation

Senior staff of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) in Akwa Ibom have called for the swift implementation of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) directive regarding proper delineation of duties. This demand was made during the 49th regular zonal executive council meeting of SSANIP's South-South zone, held at the Federal Polytechnic Ukana on Thursday.

The communiqué endorsed by zonal coordinator Godwin Ikhid and zonal secretary Eni Bassei Usang emphasized the need to address the ongoing usurpation of non-teaching staff positions by teaching staff. The council expressed dissatisfaction with the continued delay in the release of the 2019 scheme of service and urged the federal government to expedite action on its implementation.

Additionally, SSANIP encouraged branches to strengthen welfare schemes for members and commended the management of Federal Polytechnic Ukana for effectively utilizing TETFund allocations. The council also expressed concerns over the high rate of insecurity and rising petroleum prices affecting the welfare of polytechnic staff.
