Serena Williams' Knee Injury Puts Wimbledon Doubles in Doubt

Serena Williams' participation in the Wimbledon doubles is in doubt after she suffered a knee injury during her singles comeback. The 44-year-old, who is a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, was expected to play alongside her older sister, Venus Williams, marking their first reunion on the Grand Slam court since 2022.

However, Serena's right knee swelled after she tweaked it at the end of the first set in her match. Wimbledon organizers stated that she was unable to undertake media duties following the match.

Her agent, Jill Smoller, confirmed that Serena left the site unaided and is doing everything possible to be ready for the doubles match later in the week. This injury is a significant disappointment for Serena, who has been the center of attention at SW19 in recent days, as she had previously indicated that she was not officially retiring from tennis after her last match at the 2022 US Open.
