Nigerian Air Chief Warns Against Coups, Highlights Security Challenges

Air Chief Air Marshal Isiaka Amao of the Nigerian Air Force condemned coup plots against Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, vowing to punish those involved. Amao stressed the military's allegiance to democracy and the need for unity and discipline.

He highlighted security threats from jihadist groups in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, expressing concerns about instability. Amao acknowledged improvements in security, such as reduced pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta and curtailed separatist violence in the South East.

Joint security operations in the Niger Delta have helped increase crude oil production. The Air Chief's assessments also raised alarms about security challenges in Kwara State, prompting the need for decisive action.
