Shettima and Fubara Inaugurate Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road

On Thursday, Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, and Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, inaugurated the newly constructed 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dual carriageway. This infrastructure project aims to boost connectivity and enhance economic activities by serving as a critical transit corridor linking several communities across Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba–Egbema–Ndoni local government areas of Rivers State.

During the official commissioning, Shettima described the road as a significant example of a sub-national government’s efforts to expand the nation’s road network, facilitating the movement of goods and people while expanding economic opportunities. He emphasized the importance of roads as democratic instruments of development, benefiting various groups including farmers, traders, workers, students, and patients.

Shettima also recalled the previous state of the road, which posed challenges to commuters due to deep gullies and security concerns.
