Shettima Inaugurates Key Road Project in Rivers State

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated the Elele-Umudioga-Egbeda-Ubimini-Akpabu-Ikiri-Omoku Dual Carriageway in Rivers State on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. This 33.5-kilometre road connects key communities in Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas, facilitating access along an important agricultural, commercial, and oil and gas corridor towards Omoku, known as the “Gas City.” Shettima stated that the Tinubu administration is focused on spreading infrastructure and economic opportunities beyond major cities to alleviate congestion and promote balanced national development, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He highlighted the importance of roads in connecting various sectors of society, stating that effective infrastructure improves lives by enhancing access to markets, jobs, education, and healthcare. Shettima commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for completing the project and urged communities to protect the infrastructure from vandalism.

He emphasized that public infrastructure should be evaluated based on the improvements it brings to people's lives.
