Minister Warns Against Altering Muslim-Muslim Presidential Ticket for 2027 Elections

Minister Shettima, speaking on a show hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloy, cautioned against attempts to change the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2027 elections, stating that the absence of key ethnic groups like the Hausa, Fulani, or Kanuri Muslims could hinder the party's chances, especially in the North. She highlighted the significance of understanding local sentiments and maintaining voter loyalty.

Shettima also warned against replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima with a non-northern Muslim as a running mate, as it could alienate the party's core support base in Northern Nigeria. She dismissed the idea of a united opposition front to challenge President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, stating that fragmented opposition figures would weaken their collective influence.

The Minister stressed the importance of the APC focusing on consolidating its political base and welcoming healthy opposition for a robust democracy.
