Shettima Represents Tinubu at UN Assembly, Returns to Nigeria

Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to Nigeria after leading the country's delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, following his departure from Abuja on September 20 on President Bola Tinubu's mandate. Tinubu has been absent from Nigeria since August 30 for a working vacation in Europe.

Shettima delivered Tinubu's national statement at the UN, emphasizing Nigeria's demand for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council and advocating for reforms in global financing and climate support. He also discussed Africa's mineral resources and the need for local processing and manufacturing.

Additionally, Shettima participated in a high-level education financing event, supporting the Global Partnership for Education's campaign to raise $5 billion for education. He engaged with Nigerians abroad, highlighting their role in national development, and met with the new leadership of the Economic Community of West African States Commission and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J.
