Troops Rescue Six Katsina University Students from Kidnappers

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma and their commercial driver after they were kidnapped along the Daye–Malumfashi Road in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The abduction occurred when armed assailants attacked a commercial vehicle traveling from Kaduna to Katsina on September 21, 2026.
Lieutenant Colonel Olamiyi Osoba, the Deputy Director of Information for Sector 2, reported that troops responded to a distress call regarding the attack. Their swift intervention forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee.
All seven individuals were rescued unharmed and underwent preliminary security profiling and medical evaluations. Following these assessments, they were safely handed over to designated officials to facilitate their reunion with their families and school authorities.
This rescue is part of ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat kidnapping and criminal activities in the North-West region.
