MLS Bans Yaw Yeboah and Derrick Jones for Life

Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced lifetime bans for Ghanaian players Yaw Yeboah and Derrick Jones due to their involvement in extensive gambling activities. The league's statement indicated that both players engaged in betting on soccer, including matches involving their own team, during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The investigation was prompted by suspicions of betting, particularly after Jones received a yellow card during a match on October 19, 2024. MLS Commissioner Don Garber stated that the league remains committed to maintaining the integrity of the game and found no evidence suggesting that the betting activities affected match outcomes.

Yaw Yeboah, 28, has represented Ghana in four international matches since 2021 and has played for various clubs, including a stint with Qingdao Hainiu in China. Derrick Jones, 29, has represented the United States at the U23 level and has played for several MLS teams, including Columbus Crew and Philadelphia Union.
