Sokoto Government Aids 1,550 IDPs with ₦15m Donation

The Sokoto State Government has provided ₦15 million and two trucks of rice to assist 1,550 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by a recent security incident in Bodinga local government area. The beneficiaries were from Bangi, Danchadi, Kolodo, Kwamtse, Keluje, and Luge communities.

Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, the Secretary to the State Government, presented the relief items in Sifawa, expressing Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s condolences to the victims. The incident resulted in the loss of 14 lives and injuries to four others.

Each family of the deceased received three bags of rice and ₦500,000, while the injured received two bags of rice and ₦200,000. Other displaced individuals received one bag of rice and a transportation allowance of ₦5,000.

Alhaji Tukur Bala Bodinga, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, assured the victims of the government's commitment to restoring normalcy and facilitating their return to their communities. The relief committee included various officials, reaffirming the government's dedication to supporting affected communities.
